"Medical Knowledge on Demand"

Products

MédiMed offers a suite of rigorously validated knowledge bases. These knowledge bases may be used independently or as an integrated package. Each is calibrated to minimize the potentially harmful effects of self-managed information such as anxiety and fear, and maximizes favourable effects such as self-confidence and a feeling of competence that allows individuals to use services more appropriately.

These knowledge bases are:

  1. Common health problems
  2. Psychosocial problems
  3. Medications
  4. Clinical tests
  5. Chronic diseases
  6. The art of living (health promotion)
  7. Prevention
  8. Social issues and parenting skills
  9. Personalized health action plan
  10. Interactive life-habit modification programs

All content is developed by expert science writers based on the best scientific and clinical evidence available. Each component has been subjected to careful analysis of the needs and uses by typical users.
The content is structured on the basis of protocols resulting from these analyses and is available in English and French.

The information is initially validated and updated in close collaboration with recognized institutions and organizations, under the supervision of the major professional corporations, health-care institutions, and experts from Quebec universities (McGill University, Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, and Université Laval).

The content is then submitted to a peer-review process. More than seventy experts in medicine, nursing care, psychology, pharmacology, and other disciplines contribute to the validation. These experts belong to the Quebec health-care and university networks.

Both the content and the architecture of the service are designed to stimulate an integrated approach to prevention and care. Where appropriate, the recommendations are harmonized with Info-Santé, Quebec’s triage call center. The information on clinical tests is aligned with the requirements of major laboratories and hospitals. The information on medications is designed to complement the approaches favoured by nurses, physicians, and pharmacists with regard to safety and therapeutic adherence. The health prevention and promotion content has been developed in collaboration with public health authorities.
